A public engagement event with artist/ceramicist Sarah Rychtarova in the rural skills cabin at Murton Farm, Forfar, Scotland. Join Sarah for a chance to talk about and see her work, and also have a go at the hand-building technique of coiling.
Come and learn this ancient coiling technique by making your own vessel with a special clay which is good for sculpting, hand building and weathering outdoors all year round after firing. Decorate it with oxides used for thousands of years to colour sculptures and symbolise blood. The workshop will also allude to the coming together of women within indigenous cultures where they bleed together and share stories, experiences and wisdoms with their mothers, daughters and each other.
An installation of a series of 13 photographic images as a menstrual diary in accordance with the 13 new moons in a year and a ceramic hand-coiled Lunar Blood Vessel inspired by the collection of menstrual blood in a mooncup which made the menstrual diary possible.
